LED ILLUMINATION AND COMMUNICATION SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH NO FLICKER

NEW-YORK, NY (USA) May 5, 2015 – Arkalumen successfully tested its patent-pending 2-way optical communications protocol today before a group of lighting experts and engineers.  Arkalumen has recently received a patent allowance on its system of diagnostic communications using modulation of the LEDs that are also providing illumination within a light fixture.  This technology provides the foundation for a paradigm-shift in last-mile communications to light fixtures, paving the way for ultra-low cost, highly resilient signalling in lighting-specific diagnostics and controls.

Gerry Briggs, Arkalumen CTO, remarked that “the protocol exhibits no flicker of any kind, and can be integrated into the most modestly priced constant current driver designs.” Protocol code will be released as open source in Q3 of 2015, enabling third party hardware development and apps.  The durability and invisibility of the Arkalumen LED communication architecture could enable significant change in the industry.
